Mad Men does not take a Forrest Gump approach to history. Historical events are presented as most people experience them - through news on the TV, in the paper, or listening to the radio. One exception to this is for the biggest concert of the ‘60s.

We don’t see the famous concert but Don Draper does attend. Not as a screaming fan, of course.

In August 1965, Don surprises his daughter with tickets to see John, Paul, George, and Ringo with 55,000 other fans.
While the screaming is enough for earplugs, Don seems unenthused about their music and is going because he loves Sally.
